Itinerary

Day 1 - Marrakech to Agersioual and Trek to Azzaden Valley

Depart from Marrakech in the morning for a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Agersioual. Meet your guide and muleteers, then begin your trek through stunning trails leading into the Azzaden Valley. Pass through traditional Berber villages and marvel at terraced fields and lush greenery. Upon reaching your guesthouse, enjoy a hearty dinner and rest for the night.

Distance: Approximately 10 km
Hiking Time: 5-6 hours
Elevation Gain: Start at 1,500m, ascend to 2,000m
Accommodation: Guesthouse in Azzaden Valley

Day 2 - Azzaden Valley to Aroumd Village in Imlil Valley

After breakfast, embark on a trek that takes you through the heart of the Azzaden Valley. Ascend to the Tizi Mzik Pass at 2,489 meters, offering panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. From the pass, descend into the serene Imlil Valley, where you will reach the charming village of Aroumd. Relax with a traditional dinner and enjoy the hospitality of your hosts.

Distance: Approximately 12-14 km
Hiking Time: 6-7 hours
Elevation Gain: Ascend to 2,489m at Tizi Mzik Pass, descend to 1,900m
Accommodation: Guesthouse in Aroumd

Day 3 - Aroumd Village to Imlil and Return to Marrakech

Begin your final day with a leisurely hike through the Imlil Valley, passing through orchards and terraced fields. Arrive in Imlil, where you’ll have time for a relaxing lunch and reflection on your journey. Afterward, transfer back to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon to conclude your adventure

This trek is available to be booked independently (including transfers from Marrakech) or we can put together a full itinerary and quote to combine your trek with any of Marrakech, Essaouira, The Atlantic Coast and Sahara Desert

Accommodation

The Accommodation will be in a simple berber Gite at Tizi oussem Village.
Camping is an option if prefered (june-Octo).
NB : If accommodation is required in the Atlas Mountains either before or after the trek, we can always book you at Dar Adrar in Imlil or in Eco-loge in Ouirgane or Riad View Point in Marrakech.

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Marrakech city, many riads does not have access by car so the driver will park nearby and come to get you.
You will be droped off at the nearest point to your riad/hotel , our driver can call your riad to meet you if needed.

What level of fitness is required for this trek?

This trek is suitable for individuals with moderate to high fitness levels. Some sections are challenging but manageable with proper preparation.

When is the best time to trek in the Atlas Mountains?

The ideal time is from April to October, offering pleasant weather and clear views. Winter months are also possible but may require additional gear for snow.

Are vegetarian or special dietary requirements accommodated?

Yes, dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice. Inform the organizer when booking.

How is luggage managed during the trek?

Mules will carry your main luggage, allowing you to trek with a small daypack containing essentials like water, snacks, and a camera.

How do you book & pay?

Find the trek you are interested in then contact us via E-mail to discuss your trek and check availability. Once the details of your trek (duration, route and number of people) have been agreed, we will make a provisional booking, giving the dates and cost.
To confirm your booking we ask you to pay a 20% deposit. This can be in Euros, pounds sterling or US dollars online via bank account. The balance is paid in Morocco by cash – again in Euros, sterling or dollars – at the beginning of the trek.
NB: if you can’t carry cash, you can always pay again the balance online by bank few days before departure.
