  • Day 4 - Imlil– Ikkiss - Agersioual – Marrakech

Itinerary

Day 1 - Marrakech - Imi-oughlad - Tinzert - Marigha (Ouirgane)

Embark on your journey at Imi Oughlad (1,450m), meeting your Berber muleteer and guide. Traverse the Ouirgane National Park with its copper green soil and juniper trees, reaching Tinzert village for a scenic lunch. Afterward, explore a charming valley leading to Marigha village through olive groves, and settle in at Ouirgane Ecolodge for the night. Expect a 5-6 hours walk.

 

Day 2 - Ouirgane – Ait Aissa in Azzaden Valley

Following breakfast, navigate through olive groves with a gradual ascent to the Azzaden Valley. Revel in expansive views as you cross into the valley, pausing for a delightful lunch. Continue along the river, passing traditional Berber villages en route to Ait Aissa at 1860m, where you’ll stay overnight at Azzaden Trekking Lodge. Anticipate a 5-6 hours walk with a 760m ascent.

Day 3 - Ait Aissa – Imlil Valley

Embark on a 5-7 hour journey through the Azzaden valley, passing Tizi Oussem and the Summer Village of Tamsoult, featuring the Toubkal National Park’s largest waterfalls. Traverse Tizi Mzzik at 2500m, offering panoramic views of Imlil and the Atlas mountain range. Descend to Imlil, greeted with mint tea and accommodation at Dar Adrar Guesthouse.

Day 4 - Imlil– Ikkiss - Agersioual – Marrakech

Embark on a circular trek into the picturesque Imnane valley, starting from Imlil (1,740m). Cross the Tamatert Valley and ascend Tizi n’Tamatert (2,279m) for stunning views into the Imnane valley. Descend through Berber villages like Tinerhourhine, Ikkis, and Amssakrou, enjoying terraced hamlets on the mountainsides. Lunch at a scenic spot with a view of Jbel Oukaimeden (3,268m). Conclude your journey by climbing Tizi n’Aguersioual Pass (1,767m) and descending into the Imlil valley. Finally, meet your vehicle for a transfer back to Marrakech, completing approximately 6-7 hours of walking with a 789m ascent and 929m descent.

This trek is available to be booked independently (including transfers from Marrakech) or we can put together a full itinerary and quote to combine your trek with any of Marrakech, Essaouira, The Atlantic Coast and Sahara Desert

Accommodations ?

The Accommodation during this trek will be in Ouirgane Ecolodge, Dar Adrar guesthouse and Azzaden trekking Lodge.

NB : If accommodation is required in the Atlas Mountains either before or after the trek, we can always book you at our Guesthouse Dar Adrar in Imlil or in our Eco-loge in Ouirgane.

Food during the trek ?

Meals on the trek are cooked by the Berber muleteers. The food is fresh and healthy. Example meals:

  • Breakfast: Jam, bread, cookies, fruit, juice, butter, coffee, milk
  • Lunch: salad, tomatoes, carrots, lentils, beans, rice or pasta, fish (sardines, tuna), seasonal fruit
  • Dinner: Soup, classic Morooccan tajine, couscous, olives, nuts, fruit

Can my dietary requirements be catered to?
Absolutely. Just let us know about your catering preferences when you confirm your booking to ensure any dietary requirements are met.
Please remind as well your guide and cook on first day of the trek.

What's about the luggages during the trek ?

Personal baggage, cooking equipment and food are carried by the mules, leaving you to carry only a rucksack with whatever you need close at hand for the day.
NB : Left luggages or unnecessary luggages can be left safely in our storage in Imlil till you come back from the trek.

Essential Equipment / Kit Hire

  • Good walking boots and socks / good trainers for valley treks
  • Personnel First aid Kit
  • Lightweight waterproof over-trousers / rain-pants
  • Water bottle or camel back (recommended)
  • Soft-sided bag (50-80 litres)
  • Lightweight daypack
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen

Most of those equipment can be rented locally from our equipment shop in Imlil:

  1.  Walking boots : 5 €/day
  2.  Rain Jackets : 3 €/day
  3.  Walking Poles : 3 €/day/pair   
  4.  Back packs : 3€/day

Additionally, depending on the specific requirements and weather conditions, you may also consider the following items:

– Hiking poles for extra stability and support

– Quick-drying and moisture-wicking clothing for comfort during the trek
– Insect repellent for protection against bugs and mosquitoes
– Extra snacks or energy bars for additional sustenance on the trail

How do you book & pay?

Find the trek you are interested in then contact us via E-mail to discuss your trek and check availability. Once the details of your trek (duration, route and number of people) have been agreed, we will make a provisional booking, giving the dates and cost.
To confirm your booking we ask you to pay a 30% deposit. This can be in Euros, pounds sterling or US dollars  online via bank account. The balance is paid in Morocco by cash – again in Euros, sterling or dollars – at the beginning of the trek.
NB: if you can’t carry cash, you can always pay again the balance online by bank few days before departure.
