Itinerary

Day 1 - Marrakech to Imlil Valley – Day Hike – Overnight in Berber Guesthouse

Your journey begins with a morning drive from Marrakech to the Imlil Valley (1,740m), the gateway to the High Atlas Mountains. Upon arrival, meet your guide and start your day hike, passing through charming Berber villages, walnut groves, and terraced farmlands. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys as you trek through this stunning region.

Driving time: 1.5 hours (65km).
Hiking distance: 10-12km (4-5 hours).
Elevation gain/loss: +400m / -400m.
Accommodation: Berber guesthouse in Imlil Valley, private room.
Meals: Lunch,dinner And Breakfast.

After the hike, settle into your guesthouse for a relaxing evening. Enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner and soak in the tranquility of the mountains.

Day 2 - Imlil Valley to Agafay Desert – Camel Ride – Return to Marrakech

After breakfast, drive from Imlil to the Agafay Desert, a unique rocky landscape located just outside Marrakech. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a peaceful camel ride, experiencing the beauty and serenity of the desert. After your camel ride, continue your drive back to Marrakech, arriving by late afternoon.

Driving time: 3.5 hours (140km).
Camel ride duration: 1 hour.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch.

This day provides a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure, concluding your short but unforgettable journey through two of Morocco’s most iconic landscapes.

Accommodation

The Accommodation will be in a simple berber guesthouse in Imlil Village.
NB : If accommodation is required in the Atlas Mountains either before or after the trek, we can always book you at Dar Adrar in Imlil or in Eco-loge in Ouirgane or Riad View Point in Marrakech.

Start Point ? Finish Point?

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Marrakech city, many riads does not have access by car so the driver will park nearby and come to get you.
You will be droped off at the nearest point to your riad/hotel , our driver can call your riad to meet you if needed.

What level of fitness is required for this trek?

This trek is suitable for individuals with moderate to high fitness levels. Some sections are challenging but manageable with proper preparation.

When is the best time to trek in the Atlas Mountains?

The ideal time is from April to October, offering pleasant weather and clear views. Winter months are also possible but may require additional gear for snow.

Are vegetarian or special dietary requirements accommodated?

Yes, dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice. Inform the organizer when booking.

Are the camel rides safe for all ages?

Yes, the camel ride is safe and suitable for all ages, with guides ensuring your comfort and safety.

How do you book & pay?

Find the trek you are interested in then contact us via E-mail to discuss your trek and check availability. Once the details of your trek (duration, route and number of people) have been agreed, we will make a provisional booking, giving the dates and cost.
To confirm your booking we ask you to pay a 20% deposit. This can be in Euros, pounds sterling or US dollars online via bank account. The balance is paid in Morocco by cash – again in Euros, sterling or dollars – at the beginning of the trek.
NB: if you can’t carry cash, you can always pay again the balance online by bank few days before departure.
