Discover the rugged beauty of the Anti Atlas Mountains on this 5-day trek through the Jbel Saghro region. This unique adventure takes you across arid landscapes, dramatic rock formations, and traditional Berber villages. The Jbel Saghro mountain range, known for its volcanic peaks and stunning vistas, offers a perfect blend of challenge and reward for trekkers seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience. Immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Berber people while exploring one of Morocco’s most spectacular yet lesser-known regions.
Depart from Marrakech in the morning for a scenic drive across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Pass through Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara, and continue toward N’Kob, a quaint Berber village nestled at the foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Enjoy a warm welcome and dinner at a traditional guesthouse, where you’ll spend the night.
After breakfast, meet your trekking team and begin your journey into the heart of the Saghro region. The trail winds through rocky terrain, plateaus, and dry riverbeds, offering stunning views of volcanic formations. Arrive at Bab n’Ali, famous for its twin rock spires, and set up camp for the night. Enjoy dinner under a star-filled sky.
Today’s trek takes you deeper into the Saghro Mountains, passing through narrow gorges and dramatic canyons. Encounter nomadic shepherds and their herds, gaining insight into their way of life. Reach Irhazzoun n’Imlass, a remote and serene campsite surrounded by rugged peaks, where you’ll enjoy a well-deserved rest and dinner.
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Begin with an early morning ascent to the summit of Jbel Saghro, standing at 2,712 meters. From the top, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, stretching from the High Atlas to the Sahara Desert. After a celebratory moment, descend through rugged terrain to the village of Handour. Relax with a hot meal and comfortable accommodations in a guesthouse.
After breakfast, bid farewell to your trekking team and begin the journey back to Marrakech. Pass through Ouarzazate for a short break and continue over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon, where your adventure concludes.
