Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech. Leaving the city behind, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes towards the High Atlas Mountains. Passing through the Moulay Brahim Gorge and the Asni Valley, you’ll gradually climb into the spectacular landscapes of Toubkal National Park before arriving in the charming mountain village of Imlil (1,740m).
Upon arrival, you’ll meet your experienced local mountain guide and begin your hike. The trail follows the well-known Mount Toubkal route, climbing gently through walnut groves, irrigated terraces, and traditional Berber settlements. You’ll pass through the beautiful village of Aremd, one of the largest villages in the valley, where stone houses cling to the mountainside and daily life continues much as it has for generations.
Continuing higher into the valley, you’ll enjoy magnificent views of rugged mountain peaks, flowing streams, and grazing livestock. The trail gradually ascends alongside the Mizane Valley before reaching the sacred site of Sidi Chamharouch, an important pilgrimage destination for many Moroccans. Built around a distinctive white-painted rock beside a mountain stream, the shrine has long held spiritual significance and remains an active place of pilgrimage. While non-Muslims are not permitted to enter the religious shrine itself, everyone is welcome to admire the beautiful surroundings and experience the unique atmosphere of this remarkable mountain location.
Here you’ll stop to relax and enjoy a freshly prepared picnic lunch surrounded by spectacular scenery. With towering peaks rising above and crystal-clear mountain streams flowing nearby, this is one of the most peaceful places in the Atlas Mountains.
After lunch, you’ll have time to rest, take photographs, and appreciate the dramatic landscapes before beginning the leisurely descent back to Imlil along the same scenic trail. Returning through the Berber villages offers another opportunity to observe everyday mountain life and capture different perspectives of the valley.
Once back in Imlil, your driver will be waiting to transfer you comfortably back to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon.
