Your two-day High Atlas Mountains adventure begins in the morning with a pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech. Leaving the city behind, you will travel south towards the snow-capped peaks and deep valleys of the High Atlas Mountains.
The scenic drive takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, passing through the countryside and traditional villages before arriving in Imlil, located at approximately 1,740 metres above sea level. Imlil is one of Morocco’s best-known mountain villages and the principal gateway to Mount Toubkal and Toubkal National Park.
On arrival, you will meet your local Berber mountain guide and trekking team. After a short introduction and preparation, your hike begins through the beautiful Imlil Valley.
The trail gradually climbs above the valley, offering increasingly impressive views over traditional villages built into the mountain slopes. Depending on the season, the surrounding landscape may be filled with walnut trees, apple orchards, cultivated terraces and flowing mountain streams.
You will continue towards Tizi n’Tamatert Pass, situated at approximately 2,279 metres. The climb is steady and provides wonderful opportunities to stop, rest and photograph the dramatic scenery of the High Atlas Mountains.
Reaching the pass is one of the highlights of the first day. From this panoramic viewpoint, you can admire magnificent views across the Imnane Valley, with traditional villages scattered along the mountainsides and rugged peaks rising in the distance.
A freshly prepared lunch will be enjoyed in a scenic mountain setting. Your trekking team will prepare a traditional Moroccan meal, giving you time to relax and appreciate the peaceful atmosphere of the Atlas Mountains.
After lunch, the trek continues along mountain trails and through changing landscapes. Your local guide will introduce you to the geography, traditions and daily life of the local Berber communities who have lived in these valleys for generations.
The afternoon route eventually leads towards the Imlil and Toubkal valley area before reaching Aremd Village, also commonly written as Armed. Situated above Imlil, Aremd is one of the largest and most impressive traditional villages in the valley.
The village enjoys a spectacular position overlooking terraced fields and the surrounding mountains. On arrival, you will settle into a traditional Berber guesthouse and have time to relax after the day’s trek.
In the evening, enjoy a warm Moroccan dinner and traditional Berber hospitality. The peaceful mountain atmosphere and views towards the Toubkal Massif provide a perfect ending to your first day of trekking.

The path passes cultivated terraces and traditional mountain landscapes before continuing alongside the valley. Throughout the walk, you will enjoy impressive views of the surrounding High Atlas peaks.
Your main destination this morning is Sidi Chamharouch, located at approximately 2,350 metres above sea level. Situated along the traditional trail towards the Toubkal Refuge, Sidi Chamharouch is well known for its distinctive white-painted rock and its cultural and spiritual importance to local communities.
Your guide will explain the local history and traditions associated with the area while you enjoy time to explore the surroundings and admire the dramatic mountain landscape.
After visiting Sidi Chamharouch, you will begin the descent back through the Toubkal Valley. Walking downhill provides a different perspective of the landscape, with beautiful views opening across the valley towards Aremd and Imlil.
