Itinerary

1. Starting Point – Imlil Village (1,740 meters) Your journey begins in the charming village of Imlil, the trekking hub of the High Atlas Mountains. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your experienced guide, who will provide a brief overview of the trek. Imlil is a vibrant village known for its terraced fields, walnut groves, and traditional Berber homes.

2. Ascent to Tizi Mzik (2,489 meters) The trek begins with a steady climb through juniper and pine forests. The path winds its way up the mountain slopes, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Along the way, you may pass small Berber villages, terraced farmlands, and locals tending to their livestock.  

As you ascend, your guide will share insights into the local flora, fauna, and Berber way of life. You’ll also have opportunities to stop for photos and enjoy the crisp mountain air.

3. Arrival at Tizi Mzik Pass: After approximately 2–3 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Tizi Mzik, a high mountain pass located at 2,489 meters. From here, you’ll be treated to awe-inspiring views of the Azzaden Valley below, with its red-earth villages and verdant fields. To the north, you can admire the peaks of the High Atlas range, and on a clear day, the views seem to stretch endlessly.  

This is a great spot to relax, enjoy a packed lunch or snacks, and take in the natural beauty of the area. Your guide will point out notable peaks and landmarks visible from the pass.

4. Descent Back to Imlil: The return journey takes you along a different path, allowing you to experience new perspectives of the landscape. The descent is easier and provides more opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the mountains. You’ll arrive back in Imlil by mid-afternoon, where you can unwind with some traditional Moroccan mint tea before concluding your trek.
